After a land search across four states, Huntley was chosen in early 1997, and Sun City Huntley opened in April 1999 — Bob and Jayne Ackley became its first residents on April 15 of that year. The finished community spans nearly 2,000 acres and more than 5,000 home lots, built on the same ground where dairy herds once grazed.
