The modest three-bedroom home at 212 East 141st Place was built in 1949 and purchased by Louis and Mildred Prevost, who raised three sons there — including Robert, born in 1955, who lived in the house until leaving for seminary in 1969. In 2025, Robert Prevost was elected Pope Leo XIV, and the Village of Dolton voted to purchase the childhood home later that year, designating it a historic landmark in December 2025. The Archdiocese of Chicago and the village are now working together to preserve it, with guided tours already drawing visitors from well beyond the south suburbs.
