About Bolingbrook
Bolingbrook is a planned community in the truest sense. In the early 1960s, Dover Construction Company began building the first subdivisions on farmland just north of old U.S. Route 66, marketing $10,000 starter homes with a British-butler mascot named “Mr. Dover.” Early buyers thought they were moving to a neighborhood called “Westbury” — only to learn Westbury was simply the western section of a larger project Dover had filed at the county level as the “Bolingbrook Subdivision.” Three original neighborhoods — Westbury, Colonial Village, and King’s Park — combined to officially incorporate as the Village of Bolingbrook on October 6, 1965. What started as unpaved streets and model homes grew into Will County’s second-largest municipality, now home to nearly 74,000 residents, The Promenade Bolingbrook shopping district, and the 80-acre Hidden Oaks Nature Center.
