Book Your Ride Now →About Goodenow, Illinois
Goodenow is a tiny, wooded, unincorporated community in Will Township, Will County, tucked between Crete to the north and Beecher to the south along Plum Creek. The land was first surveyed in 1839, and in 1853 a landowner named George Goodenow purchased 160 acres here — the community has carried his name ever since. In 1872 the land was subdivided into blocks, lots, streets, and alleys, but Goodenow stayed small: the 2020 Census recorded just 60 residents, marking the very first time the hamlet was tallied on its own as a census-designated place.
Distance and drive time above are an estimate: Goodenow is too small for most mapping services to route directly, so we calculated it by interpolating between the verified, published routes for its two closest neighbors — Crete (48 mi / ≈66 min to O’Hare) and Beecher (≈55.5 mi / 75–95 min), since Goodenow sits directly between the two along the same I-57 corridor. Actual time varies with traffic and construction.
The Hamlet Behind the Preserve
Trail-blaze diamond badge in pine, creek-teal & bark tones — for the community whose name now marks nearly 900 acres of protected woodland next door.
Sixty Neighbors, One Namesake, and Almost 900 Acres of Preserved Woods
Most of the towns we serve are known for a landmark, a founder, or a piece of history that happened downtown. Goodenow is different — it’s known mostly for the woods next door that borrow its name. Just east of the hamlet, in neighboring Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve, the Forest Preserve District of Will County manages 898 acres of forest, floodplain, savanna, and marsh along Plum Creek — designated an Illinois State Nature Preserve in 1996 for habitat that shelters the eastern massasauga rattlesnake and the spotted coral-root orchid. The preserve’s Plum Creek Nature Center has hands-on exhibits and bird-watching “Spy-on-a-Bird” cameras, and in winter its 40-foot man-made hill is one of the only public sledding spots in this part of Will County.
The hamlet itself never grew much beyond George Goodenow’s original 160 acres — the 2020 Census was the first time it was even counted as its own place, at 60 residents. We think that’s worth celebrating rather than glossing over: it’s one of the smallest, quietest communities on our entire route map, and we treat a pickup here with the same flat-rate reliability as a pickup in downtown Chicago.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it true only about 60 people live in Goodenow?
Yes — the 2020 Census was the first time Goodenow was counted on its own as a community, and it recorded 60 residents. The area was first surveyed in 1839, and gets its name from George Goodenow, who bought 160 acres here in 1853; the land was platted into lots and streets in 1872.
Does the $126 rate change depending on where in Goodenow I’m picked up?
No — $126 is the flat sedan rate for any pickup within Goodenow, regardless of the exact address. It does change if you choose an SUV, minivan, or black car instead of a sedan.
Can you pick us up near Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve or the Plum Creek Nature Center?
Yes — the nature preserve entrance, the nature center, and residential roads throughout the Goodenow area are all standard pickup points.
Can I book a car seat for a flight out of Goodenow?
Yes, for $10 extra, though availability is limited — reserve it when you book rather than asking last minute.
Do you also serve Crete, Beecher, or Park Forest?

Are you authorized to pick up directly at O’Hare’s Terminal 5?
Yes. O’Hare Airport Taxi LLC is authorized for direct Terminal 5 pickups, something Uber and Lyft cannot do. Our drivers wait at gates 5D or 5E, inner lane, and track your flight so they’re ready when you land.
