About Bannockburn, Illinois
Bannockburn is one of the smallest places we serve — about 1,000 residents on roughly 2-acre home sites, in a village founded in 1924 by Scottish developer William Aitken and named after the Scottish village of the same name. It incorporated in 1929, and the current village government is at the official bannockburn.org site.
The village has a way of showing up in unrelated corners of Chicago history: architecture fans know it for the Frank Lloyd Wright–designed Friedman House, sports fans might recognize it as a former home of Mike Ditka and Phil Jackson, and Stericycle’s headquarters and the main campus of Trinity International University are both located here, even though the university often lists its address as neighboring Deerfield.
